Eglė Ganda Bogdanienė (b. 1962) is an artist, curator of exhibitions and projects, editor of publications, professor at the Vilnius Academy of Arts, and chairwoman of the Lithuanian Artists’ Association. She actively participates in art exhibitions in Lithuania and abroad.

Eglė Ganda Bogdanienė is one of the pioneers of conceptual textile art in Lithuania. The artist stands out for her innovative approach to creation, dissolving the boundary between applied and fine art. Newly discovered and popularized materials and technologies enable her to create striking works of art. She applies the knowledge she has gained not only in her own artistic practice but also shares her accumulated experience with younger generations of artists, thereby establishing new ways of understanding, exhibiting, and evaluating artworks. Environment, life situations, and everyday phenomena become sources of inspiration, allowing new and unique works to emerge. Her artistic practice is a process through which new forms of knowledge and experience arise.

The changes initiated and creatively implemented by the artist take place not only on the external level of artistic production—within collective projects, installations, video art, and the creation of conceptual objects—but also within the very conception of textile art itself. The content of textile works also transforms. The artist grants textile art a mythological and existential dimension.

Questions of identity also occupy an important place in the artist’s work. Together with her students, she created the performance “Trans-Parade,” which examines changing concepts of femininity and masculinity, processes of body construction, and stereotypes of gender and sexuality.
