Tomas SIPAS is an artist currently living and working in Budapest. He graduated from Art Academy in 1990 and entered the Hungarian University of Fine Arts in the same year, the Faculty of Painting with Dora Maurer. In 1996 he was a trainee at the Royal Academy of Antwerp in Belgium. After returning to Hungary, he graduated from the Faculty of Design and Ceramics at the University of Hungary in 1997. Tomas Sipas is an active participant in international exhibitions and symposiums and has won many diplomas, his works are in private collections, and he is a member of the Hungarian Artists’ Association.

The essence of Tomas Sipas’ style is a combination of several media in the work. Abstract, energetic stroke and a fragment of photography, stroke and color spots, stroke and figurative, portrait drawings or other objects of reality inserted in the decorative background.

The works of the artist are frivolously decorative only from the first glance, after a deeper look, a layer of irony and masterful juggling with poetic metaphors can be detected. Restless fragments of the time – that is what lies in Tomas Sipas’ energetic drawing, stroke covering one or the other side of the drawing reveals a turbulent era full of signs of instability.
